German travel maison RIMOWA has launched a new short-form storytelling series that captures milestone moments in the lives of influential cultural figures. The project offers an intimate look at the dedication, resilience, and craft behind some of the world’s most accomplished talents.
The inaugural episode follows award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh as she receives the Honorary Golden Bear during the opening ceremony of the Berlin International Film Festival. The lifetime achievement award recognises Yeoh’s outstanding contributions to cinema and marks a significant moment in a career that has spanned decades, genres, and continents.
Directed by French-Moroccan filmmaker Otman Qrita, the episode combines photography and film to document the moment behind the scenes. The series places particular focus on the human stories behind creative success, highlighting the discipline and perseverance required to reach such defining milestones.
Reflecting on the recognition, Yeoh said the honour carried deep personal meaning. “I never imagined that a girl from Malaysia, who loved discipline, dance, dreaming without limits would travel so far through stories,” she said. “My path has crossed languages and cultures, continents and genres—sometimes gracefully, sometimes a little painfully—but always guided by curiosity and deep faith in cinema.”
To commemorate the moment, RIMOWA also created a bespoke case to house the Golden Bear trophy. Crafted at the brand’s historic manufacturing site in Cologne, the case features the maison’s signature anodised grooved aluminium and design cues drawn from its Classic Collection, including a leather handle, polished silver hardware and a TSA-approved lock. A custom-shaped interior inlay allows the trophy to be safely transported or elegantly displayed.
The new series reflects RIMOWA’s long-standing commitment to celebrating journeys of mastery—spotlighting the discipline, creativity and courage that shape remarkable careers. Additional episodes following other milestone moments from global talents are expected to debut later this year.
