Lauded architect Peter Marino’s private collection of artworks is now on show at Tiffany & Co.‘s New York City Fifth Avenue location, The Landmark. Running until May 20, this inaugural exhibition named Culture of Creativity features nearly 70 contemporary artworks by 26 artists curated from the luxury jewellery house’s existing collection and the Peter Marino Art Foundation, alongside the man’s own Tiffany & Co. sterling silver masterpieces from the 1880s.
Staged over two floors in the iconic 10-storey building’s glass extension, the exhibition celebrates the role of creativity in Tiffany & Co.’s legacy, a narrative that Marino has been a part of for over four decades having worked with the maison on various projects, including the revamp of its boutiques worldwide. The show’s sleek yet eclectic scenography is itself a vision of the cross-disciplinary designer, who is well-known for integrating art within architecture.

Such a partnership isn’t new to Tiffany & Co. Since the house’s founding in 1837, its history has been intertwined with art. Its practice of exhibiting loaned artworks for guests to admire while shopping began in the 1850s, while Louis Comfort Tiffany, a leader of the Art Nouveau movement and the son of brand founder Charles Lewis Tiffany, was appointed its first art director at the end of the 19th century. This glorious tradition has continued through high-profile collaborations with some of the most important artistic talents of the past century, such as Jean Schlumberger, Paloma Picasso, Elsa Peretti, Andy Warhol and Frank Gehry.

Not only are these renowned figures represented at the show, contemporary pieces in a variety of mediums by renowned artists are also featured.
