Journey Around The Equator And Experience Their Lands With Five New Nespresso Master Origin Collections

Lay of the land

Ever since the first concept store launched in 2000, Nespresso has been growing; and today, they are a brand that is present in 76 countries with over 700 boutiques worldwide (end of 2017). Most of this growth came on the backs of their core collection of coffees, recognizable not just by the iconic shape of their pod or names like the Ristretto or Arpeggio but also the colours in which each blend is represented.

However, for the more adventurous coffee drinkers, it is the special edition coffees from Nespresso that pique their interest. And this time around they are back, offering a new Master Origin collection that takes the consumer on a journey around the equator, highlighting distinct coffee sensations all inspired by the land.

Nespresso Master Origin India

Back in the day ships could take up to six months to reach Europe with their cargos full of green coffee beans. And during this long voyage the beans would swell with the humidity and shrink again as it dried out. This repeated process changed the physical and internal structure of the beans resulting in a syrupy aromatic cup. In India, Nespresso is replicating this process, now known as “Monsooning” with Robusta beans; only the difference is, instead of ships, the beans spread out in a warehouse with wide open sides that allow for cross ventilation and the whole process takes three full months.

Taste: The Monsooned Robusta produces a cup with complex and fragrant aromas with extremely woody and spicy notes.
