Journey Around The Equator And Experience Their Lands With Five New Nespresso Master Origin Collections

Lay of the land

Ever since the first concept store launched in 2000, Nespresso has been growing; and today, they are a brand that is present in 76 countries with over 700 boutiques worldwide (end of 2017). Most of this growth came on the backs of their core collection of coffees, recognizable not just by the iconic shape of their pod or names like the Ristretto or Arpeggio but also the colours in which each blend is represented.

However, for the more adventurous coffee drinkers, it is the special edition coffees from Nespresso that pique their interest. And this time around they are back, offering a new Master Origin collection that takes the consumer on a journey around the equator, highlighting distinct coffee sensations all inspired by the land.

Nespresso Master Origin Nicaragua

In Nicaragua, they call the process “Black Honey”. Sometime around 2008, certain Nicaraguan farmers started drying the beans with most of the fruit still on it. In the humid climate, this can prove especially challenging because each sticky and sweet cherry has a different amount of flesh surrounding the bean and will require requires constant monitoring and rotation in order to perfect the flavours and prevent defects.

Taste: As the name “Black Honey” suggests, the resulting cup is sweet and smooth.
