ASAI Hotels Makes Its Malaysian Debut With A Lifestyle Property In Gamuda Cove

A 280-room property in Gamuda Cove, placing wetlands, outdoor attractions and a world class racing circuit within easy reach.

Malaysia’s hotel landscape is expanding beyond the traditional city-centre address. The latest example is ASAI Gamuda Cove, which opens on 15 September as the Malaysian debut of Dusit International’s affordable lifestyle brand — and its largest property to date.

Located within the 1,530-acre Gamuda Cove township in Selangor, the 13-storey hotel is around 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sepang International Circuit. More significantly, it sits alongside the 1,111-acre Paya Indah Discovery Wetlands, putting the natural landscape at the heart of the stay.

A Different Kind of Selangor Stay

ASAI was conceived around its Live Local philosophy, with properties designed to connect travellers more closely with their surroundings. At Gamuda Cove, that idea takes on a distinctly Malaysian character.

The neighbouring wetlands offer opportunities for wildlife observation and exploration, while the 90-acre Wetlands Arboretum provides walking routes, birdwatching and environmental activities. Nearby Discovery Park and SplashMania Waterpark — with 39 slides and attractions — broaden the appeal to families and leisure travellers.

An electric tram network also connects key areas of Gamuda Cove, making it possible to explore the township without relying entirely on a car.

Compact Rooms, Considered Spaces

The hotel’s 280 rooms are designed around practicality and flexibility rather than excess. Categories range from compact rooms for couples and solo travellers to balcony rooms, bunk-bed configurations and a two-room family option accommodating up to six guests.

Selected rooms overlook the wetlands, while standard features include fast Wi-Fi, smart televisions, walk-in showers and practical storage.

Elsewhere, an infinity pool looks across the wetlands, complemented by a gym, co-working areas and meeting and event spaces for up to 100 people.

Food is similarly rooted in place. The all-day restaurant Nasi & Khao brings Malaysian and Thai comfort food together with familiar Western dishes, while Tea Shop serves teas and light bites throughout the day. At the Pool Bar, cocktails and refreshments accompany views over the surrounding landscape.

A New Address For Sepang Circuit

ASAI Gamuda Cove

The hotel’s opening arrives at an interesting moment for the Sepang area. From 2–4 October 2026, Formula 1 returns to Malaysia for the first time since 2017, bringing international attention back to Sepang International Circuit.

At around 20 minutes by car from the hotel, ASAI Gamuda Cove offers an alternative to the conventional city stay for visitors attending the race. Yet the property’s broader proposition extends beyond the Grand Prix weekend: its location is designed to make the wetlands, recreation and emerging Gamuda Cove community part of the experience.

As ASAI’s fourth operating hotel, following properties in Bangkok and Kyoto, Gamuda Cove represents a significant step for the brand — and a different direction for Dusit’s presence in Malaysia. With another Dusit Princess property scheduled to open in Ipoh in October, the group’s Malaysian portfolio is continuing to expand beyond established urban and resort destinations.
