Some collaborations are about putting a name on a watch. Others are about finding a shared language. For Audemars Piguet and Serena Williams, a decade-long relationship has evolved into the latter, with their latest creation translating ideas of strength, femininity and resilience into the Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph “Serena Williams” Limited Edition.
At 38mm, the watch pairs white ceramic with a pink-tinted mother-of-pearl dial — a deliberately contrasting combination that reflects Williams’ own description of the watch as a meeting of “power and grace”.
White Ceramic, Softened By Light

The case middle, bezel, crown and integrated bracelet are crafted from white ceramic, a material chosen for its resistance and consistent colour but demanding considerable precision during manufacture.
Its hardness makes finishing particularly challenging, with each component alternating between satin-brushing and chamfering to bring out the architecture of the Royal Oak.
Against this technical foundation, the pink-tinted mother-of-pearl dial introduces a softer note. Its natural iridescence gives the surface depth, complemented by white gold hands and hour-markers and rhodium-toned details around the chronograph counters. The result is a Royal Oak that feels sporty without being overly aggressive.
Serena’s Vision Is In The Details

The colour palette is more than a visual exercise. For Williams, the white ceramic represents strength and resilience, while the pink mother-of-pearl brings warmth and softness. “Strength and feminine energy can exist side by side,” she says. That idea extends to the watch’s versatility. A pink rubber strap with white ceramic studs is supplied alongside the ceramic bracelet, secured by a titanium AP folding clasp.
A New Generation Of Chronograph

Inside is Calibre 6401, Audemars Piguet’s latest integrated chronograph movement and the successor to Calibre 2385, which powered the brand’s more compact chronographs for almost three decades.
Developed entirely in-house, the automatic movement uses a column wheel and a patented vertical-clutch system simplified to reduce the number of components, with the aim of delivering smoother activation and enhanced reliability.
The redesigned layout also shifts the chronograph counters to 9 and 3 o’clock, while the instant-jump date sits between 4 and 5 o’clock.
Performance Meets Personal Expression

The movement is visible through a sapphire caseback, framed in titanium and engraved “Limited Edition”. A 22-carat pink gold oscillating weight provides another subtle connection to the dial, while traditional Haute Horlogerie finishing includes Côtes de Genève, circular graining, polishing and satin-brushing.
It is a technical watch, but one where the mechanics support rather than overwhelm the design.
A Collaboration Ten Years In The Making

The partnership between Williams and Audemars Piguet has developed around more than sport. Her transition from elite athlete to mother, entrepreneur and advocate has given the collaboration a broader narrative about reinvention and the different chapters of a life.
The Royal Oak chronograph has a history of sporting collaborations, from sailing and cricket to football. The Serena Williams edition continues that tradition while taking it in a more personal direction.
For Williams, every element was intentional. For Audemars Piguet, the watch becomes another expression of a relationship built over time — where performance and precision meet individuality. Limited in production, it is ultimately less a trophy to achievement than a portrait of how Williams sees herself: strong, resilient and unwilling to choose between power and grace.
