Björn Frantzén Just Cooked His Way Into The History Books With A Trio Of Michelin Three-Star Restaurants

He is the first chef in the world to achieve this feat.

Michelin Three-Star

In the world of fine dining, gaining a Michelin-star is considered an accomplishment. But to achieve a trio of Michelin Three-Star restaurants, well that’s considered a feat that’s legendary. That didn’t stop Björn Frantzén though, who has managed to achieve this landmark moment for global gastronomy.

The Swedish chef has become the first chef in the world to hold three Michelin three-star restaurants across three continents. The extraordinary feat was confirmed this week at the Michelin Guide ceremony in Dubai, where Frantzén Group’s latest venture, FZN, was awarded the prestigious three-star distinction.

“This recognition is an incredible honour, not just for me, but for my entire team,” said Frantzén. Receiving three Michelin stars for FZN in Dubai is a proud moment for us and reflects the hard work and creativity of everyone involved.”

Fine Dining Destinations

FZN Dubai, which opened its doors in October 2024, has achieved in mere months what many restaurants spend decades pursuing: Michelin’s highest accolade. The award also makes FZN the first-ever restaurant in the United Arab Emirates to receive three Michelin stars, propelling Dubai into the elite circle of global fine dining destinations.

The restaurant’s swift rise to the top reflects not only Frantzén’s culinary mastery but also Dubai’s growing reputation as a serious player on the global gastronomic stage. The restaurant is located within the luxury setting of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and blends Nordic culinary precision with local and regional influences.

If you’re keeping score, the chef’s other three-star restaurants include, Frantzén in Stockholm, which is the first restaurant in Sweden to earn three stars, a distinction it has held since 2018. Closer to our region is Zén in Singapore, which launched in 2018 and awarded its third star in 2021.

The Michelin Guide currently lists only 152 restaurants worldwide with three stars, making the Frantzén Group’s achievement exceptionally rare. The Group’s success also underscores a strategic and artistic expansion across Europe, Asia, and now the Middle East.

Michelin Three-Star Zen

Frantzén now stands alone in the culinary world, with three flagship restaurants at the pinnacle of the Michelin Guide. With this historic milestone, the Swedish chef has redefined the boundaries of fine dining, cementing his legacy as one of the most influential chefs of his generation.
