Watch showcases can often feel transactional, but the unveiling of the latest OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean at KLoé Hotel offered an immersive experience, highlighting the brand’s enduring relationship with the sea and its wider cultural legacy. Marking 20 years since the debut of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean in 2005, this fourth-generation release is a considered evolution rather than a simple redesign.
A hands-on session revealed just how refined the new proportions feel on the wrist, demonstrating the collection’s balance of comfort, practicality, and style. The new line introduces seven new Co-Axial Master Chronometer models, each preserving the unmistakable diving identity of the original while embracing a more contemporary aesthetic.

The case has been slimmed to 13.79mm, creating a flatter, more ergonomic profile, and paired with integrated bracelets that combine brushed and polished links, the design is cohesive and architectural, blending rugged utility with everyday sophistication. Signature design elements — matte black dials, bold applied indexes filled with Super-LumiNova, and iconic arrowhead hands — remain, while subtle updates such as open-work, sharper Arabic numerals add a modern edge that nods to earlier Seamaster references.
A Matter Of History

Heritage and innovation converge in the Planet Ocean story. Since 1932, when OMEGA introduced its first dive watch, the Marine, the brand has continually pushed underwater timekeeping forward. The Omega Seamaster has also become a cultural icon, notably through its association with James Bond, representing precision and understated resilience on screen. That legacy continues with each Planet Ocean offering water resistance to 600 metres, supported by a reengineered case structure with an inner titanium ring for durability and sealing performance.

Material innovation shapes this new chapter. The range is presented in black, blue, and the signature orange long associated with the line. The orange ceramic bezel is a standout, reflecting years of development to achieve vibrancy and durability in a challenging material. Each watch is powered by OMEGA’s Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8912, delivering a 60-hour power reserve and meeting the highest standards of precision and magnetic resistance, certified by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).
Beyond technical achievement, the new Planet Ocean embodies a lifestyle of exploration, resilience, and curiosity. Rooted in decades of innovation yet designed for the present, it reflects OMEGA’s enduring instinct to explore, wherever that pursuit may lead.
