The arrival of Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur has been one of the capital’s most closely watched luxury developments, and as the late-2026 opening draws nearer, momentum continues to build. Now, Hilton has appointed Etienne Dalançon as general manager, tasking the seasoned hotelier with leading the brand’s long-awaited Malaysian debut.
Situated in Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle within Bukit Bintang, the 268-suite property will feature seven distinct dining and cocktail venues, a dedicated wellness centre and expansive meeting and event spaces. The hotel is widely expected to set a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the city.

Dalançon arrives from Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi, where his tenure elevated the resort to international recognition including coveted accolades.
“Etienne’s inspiring leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence will be instrumental in shaping the guest experience, developing an exceptional team, and establishing Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur as a new pinnacle of luxury in the region,” said Alexandra Murray, Area Vice President and Regional Head of South East Asia, Hilton.
With more than two decades of experience across Asia and Europe, Dalançon is known for overseeing high-profile openings and repositionings within the luxury sector. Fluent in English, French and Japanese, he brings a hands-on leadership style and a strong focus on culinary excellence — elements expected to play a defining role in the Kuala Lumpur property.

“I am honoured to embark on this next chapter in my Hilton journey,” Dalançon has expressed. “Together, we will create unforgettable moments for our guests, blending the brand’s sincerely elegant service with the vibrant spirit of Kuala Lumpur.”
Candice D’Cruz, Vice President of Luxury Brands, Asia Pacific, Hilton, added that under Dalançon’s leadership, the property is “poised to redefine luxury hospitality in Malaysia,” further strengthening Hilton’s growing luxury footprint across the region.
