Think of a business class experience and you conjure images of a premium flight experience complete with comfortable seats with ample leg room, enhanced customer service and an excellent dining experience.
From June to November 2019, business class travelers on ANA (All Nippon Airways) will be able to experience the exquisite and authentic flavour’s of  Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur’s Zipangu Restaurant when they fly from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo (Haneda Airport and Narita International Airport).
The specially crafted menu was created by Zipangu’s Chef Nao Takeshita within a span of just 3 months. Boasting over 25 years of culinary experience, Takeshita has developed a deep knowledge of international flavours and marries them with traditional Japanese cuisine.
During the launch of the new business class In-flight menu Takeshita explained that the opportunity to create the dishes for ANA was a great honour as he had fond memories of flying with the airlines since he was a child.
Though it was initially challenging to conceptualise the menu, he focused on three core aspects. One was to integrate Halal ingredients with traditional Japanese food. The second was to make the new business class in-flight meal simple for the cabin crew to serve and finally he wanted the meal to excite those traveling to Japan while leave a lasting impression to those leaving Japan.
The simplicity of the specially curated meal perfectly captures the essence of authentic Japanese dining with a choice of different mains such as grilled cod fish with saikyo miso flavor or beef “shabu shabu†salad with sesame dressing.
All meals are paired with a variety of different appetisers that change depending on the time of day it is served. Travelers will find appetisers like simmered green soybeans, marinated tomato with crab meat or smoked salmon coupled with pickled cabbage accompanying their main meal.
ANA flies twice daily from Kuala Lumpur to Tokyo, Japan. To learn more about ANA’s business class experience, visit their website for more information.
