Visiting Nobu Kuala Lumpur is always a delightful surprise as I anticipate what their new menu has to offer. Their ingredients are freshly flown in from Japan on a weekly basis, and their menu is based on fresh seasonal produce.
The new Premium Selection for two is the perfect menu for those who want to try Nobu for the first time. Priced at RM498++ for two with upgrade options featuring the Scallop with Black Goma and Lobster with Yuzu Butter Sauce for RM55++ each. The menu is available only on Thursdays- Sundays until the end of the month.
I’ve visited Nobu several times, and their must-try dishes include the New Style Sashimi and Black Cod with Miso, but if you’re feeling rather adventurous and in the mood to tantalise your tastebuds I would definitely recommend trying out this new menu.
I really enjoy gastronomic surprises and new unfamiliar flavors, Nobu does just that with their special menu curated by Head Sushi Chef Masa.
The five-course menu starts with Moriawase that includes a succulent serving of Oyster with Maui Salsa and Yellowtail Sashimi with Crispy Shitake Mushroom in Yuzu Miso Sauce. With the option to upgrade for RM55++, guests can enjoy the delicate and delectable Scallop with Black Goma.
The oysters were juicy, and huge in size. I had to take 2 bites, and the Maui salsa added a refreshing end. The sashimi was fresh, and the crispiness of the shitake mushrooms complemented the sashimi very well. One of my favourite dishes from the five-course meal.
The Chef’s sushi selection comprises of Salmon, Whitefish, Unagi and an Ikura Sushi Cup, meticulously handpicked by Nobu Kuala Lumpur’s Head Sushi Chef Masa. It’s the perfect handcrafted sushi, the chef added wasabi to the sushi, so you don’t have to add it on yourself. The Wasabi is adjusted to the perfect amount for each bite, dip in a little soya sauce, and you’ve just eaten the best sushi.
“We are delighted to be putting this menu forth featuring some of our most premium sushi, we’ve taken into account the different textures and flavours that will escalate the experience to live up to the name of the menu. Each sushi is specifically selected to tie the prior and following courses together in harmony,” said Head Sushi Chef Masa.
For the hot dishes, you can’t go wrong with the Black Cod Miso, the fish is firm, buttery, and perfectly grilled. The balance of sweet and salty is just harmonious. I opted to upgrade and substitute the other hot dish portion with Lobster with Yuzu Butter Sauce that melts in your mouth for an additional RM55++.
The lobster was firm, fresh, and buttery. The Yuzu buttery had citrus flavors that pair perfectly. But if I had to choose I still preferred the Black Cod Miso.
The fourth dish, tender cut of Wagyu Short Rib Shabu Shabu with Goma Truffle. This dish was new to me, as I’ve never had wagyu served this way. The chef recommends tossing it all together and savoring the beef with vegetables in each bite. The wagyu melts in your mouth, and the vegetables add a nice refreshing crunch topped with Goma Truffle sauce.
The dessert was such a delightful ending to the meal The toco shells are made of chocolate with a combination of chocolate, raspberry, and Green Tea flavors. Filled with mousse and topped with crunchy nuts and strawberries.
The Premium Selection For Two by Nobu Kuala Lumpur is priced at RM498++ for two people. The menu is available from 1st November to 30th November 2021 only from Sundays to Thursdays.
