What’s in a Muji hotel? Impressions from the Shenzhen branch

We visit the new hotel in Shenzhen to experience the Japanese brand’s “anti-cheap”, “anti-gorgeous” concept.

Furnishings

Muji enthusiasts might be a little disappointed to discover only a few Muji retail favourites present in the room. There’s an alarm clock, flashlight, the Naoto Fukasawa wall-mounted CD player, and standard cups and toiletries, but little else.

That said, one can borrow classic items from their range, such as the aroma diffuser, air purifier, ironing set, more CDs (in case you ever tire of incessant Irish banjo) and mobile chargers. Consider perusing the thick Muji tome that takes one through the brand’s design process.
