An African-Style Safari Park Actually Exists In Indonesia

In case you didn’t know, there is an African-Style Safari Park in Indonesia. Unlike traditional zoos, Taman Safari Indonesia offers an immersive, open-habitat safari adventure for visitors. The park will play an important role in advancing the country’s tourism aspirations and numbers for the year.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2024 shows that the number of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia reached 13.9 million, an increase of approximately 19% compared to 2023. As Indonesia targets 14.3 million foreign tourists in 2025, the Ministry of Tourism is promoting Taman Safari Indonesia, to help attract more visitors.

Strategically located near major airports, Taman Safari Indonesia’s parks are located at Taman Safari Bogor, Prigen, Bali, Solo Safari and Jakarta Aquarium Safari. Each provides visitors with close encounters with orangutans, Sumatran tigers, and other native and exotic species.

At Taman Safari Bogor, for instance, visitors can experience a drive-thru safari with lions, giraffes, and elephants to interactive experiences like swimming with dolphins and feeding penguins. Night Safari lets visitors see nocturnal wildlife, followed by free rides and live performances. There’s also a Safari Resort on site offering a family-friendly retreat with heritage-inspired architecture surrounded by nature.

In East Java, Taman Safari Prigen boasts an Australiana Zone, home to kangaroos, wombats, emus, and soon, koalas.  With stunning views of Mount Arjuna thrill-seekers can enjoy an ATV off-road adventure. The attraction’s Baobab Resort offers an African-inspired savanna retreat.

Solo Safari on the other hand offers a number of kid-friendly attractions. The park located in Central Java also boasts a unique dining experience overlooking the lion exhibition at Makunde Bistro. In tourist hotspot Bali, there’s an opportunity to see local species up close.

Komodo dragons, orangutans, and the native Starling bird are just some of the wildlife residents at Taman Safari Bali.
