Come November this year, Kenya will welcome a new gem in its crown of luxurious wilderness escapes with the unveiling of Angama Amboseli, the second property in Angama. Nestled in the heart of the 2,306.7ha Kimana Sanctuary, this intimate lodge offers an East African oasis like no other.

Angama means “suspended in mid-air” in Swahili and befits the safari lodge’s location, overlooking Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

Angama Amboseli lies within the Kimana Sanctuary and will be Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy. In collaboration with the Big Life Foundation — a non-profit organisation working across 1.6 million acres of land in the Greater Amboseli Ecosystem — this exclusive resort promises an experience framed by breathtaking landscapes and an abundance of wildlife, with the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as its backdrop. Guests will also have a chance to visit the Big Life headquarters and observe conservation in action.

The new property is set in a fever tree forest, where Africa’s last Super Tuskers (elephants) roam. The lodge offers 10 exclusive tented guest suites, including family units. Designed with consideration for nature and animals, the decor features earthy colours, canvas, concrete, and rattan. Each tent boasts floor-to-ceiling screened doors, private decks with mountain views, and Angama’s signature rocking chair for serene mountain gazing.

The lodge offers a well-equipped guest area, flexible indoor-outdoor dining, a baraza, and a sundowner fire pit. The Studio houses a safari shop, games room, art gallery, maker’s studio, and a photography suite. However, the jewel in the crown is the picture-perfect infinity pool, fringed by fever trees and overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro.

With exclusive traversing rights and unrestricted game viewing, guests are led by experts on a gentle-paced safari, with an opportunity to encounter Africa’s largest mammals, from lions, leopards, and rhinos to elephants, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo.

Getting to this wildlife haven is a breeze, with daily Safarilink flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the sanctuary’s private airfield, private charters to and from the Maasai Mara, or a scenic three-and-a-half-hour drive from Nairobi.

Starting from USD$1,650 (S$2,265) per person per night, the lodge will offer a full board, inclusive of guided safaris, walking tours, laundry, Wi-Fi, and an array of guest experiences. www.angama.com/stay/angama-amboseli
