The Porsche Cayenne has long occupied an unusual position in the marque’s line-up: a performance SUV expected to deliver the driving character of a sports car without compromising everyday usability. Now, that formula enters a new era with the arrival of the Porsche Cayenne Electric in Malaysia.
Launched at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit during the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia race weekend, the new Cayenne Electric becomes the latest addition to the model family, joining combustion-engined and plug-in hybrid variants. Prices start from RM699,000, with customers offered a choice of SUV and Coupé body styles.
At the top of the range, the Cayenne Turbo Electric produces up to 850 kW, equivalent to 1,156 PS and 1,500 Nm of torque when Launch Control is activated. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, reach 200 km/h in 7.4 seconds and continue to a top speed of 260 km/h.
Yet outright speed is only part of the story. Porsche has developed the Cayenne Electric around the idea that performance should remain usable beyond the occasional burst of acceleration.
Electric Performance, Engineered for the Road

The new electric Cayenne draws heavily on Porsche’s motorsport expertise. Its recuperation system can recover up to 600 kW of energy, with technology derived from the marque’s Formula E programme. The Turbo Electric also uses direct oil cooling for its rear electric motor, supporting sustained performance under demanding conditions.
All models feature all-wheel drive with Porsche Traction Management, while adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management comes as standard. Rear-axle steering is available across the range, while Porsche Active Ride is offered on selected variants to further balance handling and comfort.
The 113 kWh battery supports DC charging at up to 390 kW, or as much as 400 kW under specific conditions. With an 800-volt electrical architecture, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 16 minutes under suitable conditions.
Range varies according to model, with the Cayenne Electric offering up to 642 km on the WLTP cycle. The Coupé versions, benefiting from a more aerodynamic silhouette, can reach up to 669 km.
A Cayenne for Everyday Life

Despite its performance credentials, practicality remains central to the Cayenne formula. The new electric SUV measures 4,985 mm long and features a wheelbase of 3,023 mm, creating additional rear legroom. Its rear seats are electrically adjustable, while luggage capacity ranges from 781 to 1,588 litres, complemented by a 90-litre front luggage compartment.
The exterior retains the familiar Cayenne proportions while introducing a more aerodynamic interpretation. A low bonnet, slim Matrix LED headlights, pronounced wheel arches and the characteristic Porsche flyline give the SUV a recognisable silhouette. With a drag coefficient of 0.25, active aerodynamic elements further contribute to efficiency and high-speed stability.

Inside, the Porsche Driver Experience introduces a curved OLED Flow Display alongside a 14.25-inch digital instrument cluster. An optional 14.9-inch passenger display expands the digital interface, while an augmented-reality head-up display is available for the first time in the Cayenne.
For Malaysian customers, Porsche has also specified an enhanced range of equipment as standard, including four-zone climate control, 14-way electrically adjustable front comfort seats, BOSE surround sound and automatic parking with 2D Surround View. The entry-level Cayenne Electric also receives the Sport Chrono Package, Electric Sport Sound and rear-axle steering as standard.
The result is an electric SUV that does not treat practicality and performance as opposing ideas. Instead, the Cayenne Electric brings them together in the same way the original Cayenne once expanded the boundaries of what a Porsche could be.
