A new slew of luxury hotels have opened in Australia, bringing buzz and vibrancy to the tourism scene Down Under. From Melbourne, Sydney to Gold Coast, we highlight the latest places to check into for your next holiday.
The luxurious Capella Sydney opened in the heart of the city’s Central Business District on 15 March. The property occupies the former Department of Education’s beautiful Edwardian Baroque building in Sydney’s Sandstone Precinct near the iconic Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and recently unveiled Quay Quarter Lanes precinct. Originally designed by architect George McRae in the early 1900s, the building has been carefully restored by Pontiac Land in collaboration with Make Architects.
The beautifully appointed 192 guestrooms and suites are furnished with standalone tubs, plush textiles, custom Italian Frette linen, TV with streaming services, LG soundbar, Bose speaker, Nespresso coffee machine and more. Art lovers can look out for commissioned and collected artworks, and intriguing objet d’art.
On level six, guests are invited to indulge in rejuvenating treatments at Auriga Spa, relax in the jacuzzi, or swim in the 20-metre heated indoor pool. There are several dining outlets including the light-filled Aperture, Brasserie 1930 and the sophisticated McRae Bar.
