Japanese Luxe Retailer Seibu To Open In Tun Razak Exchange Come 2021

Get Ready to Say Hello to Seibu – the New Luxury Retail Anchor Tenant at The Exchange TRX Lifestyle Hub.

So, what does the word ‘excitement’ mean to you?

Well, for some, it could be epic nights with a soundtrack composed of great, hip beats and sharing wonderful food & beverage experiences with friends throughout… And for others, it may instead be quality time with loved ones and family, with great retail therapy in between, in a place brimming with all sorts of high-end consumer offerings.

Soon, the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) may just be that spot in the Klang Valley offering a great selection to both camps as this very popular business and lifestyle address welcomes renowned luxury Japanese retail brand Seibu Departmental Store, set to become the new anchor tenant in the retail component of The Exchange TRX! When opened, this long-awaited (among KL residents, at least!) luxury departmental store will feature some 250,000 sq ft of integrated retail space situated across four levels.

On a whole, the new section of the iconic development is the 17-acre lifestyle epicentre of TRX – Kuala Lumpur’s international financial and business hub that’s also already home to some of the most engaging bars, restaurants and entertainment opportunities in Kuala Lumpur. Incidentally, The Exchange TRX looks all set to open its doors in the second half of 2021

Australian-listed property developers Lendlease, already a key player in the RM9bil mixed integrated development at the TRX, will also be taking the lead in The Exchange TRX project. “This will be Lendlease’s largest integrated development in Asia,” reveals Mitchell Wilson – the Malaysian Head of Retail for Lendlease. “The project comprises a large-scale retail destination, six residential towers, a hotel, integrated office blocks, and a 10-acre rooftop city park – the first of its scale in Kuala Lumpur in over two decades,” Wilson continues.

Meanwhile, the Sogo Group of Companies will be the people responsible for the Seibu brand in Malaysia. Its group managing director Datuk Alfred Cheng says that that company has already received interest from various luxury brands keen to make the new mall home for its products. “I must say that the response has been fantastic, but I am unable to share any brand names just yet because it’s a bit too early. All I can reveal right now is that the future Seibu KL will be the store with the most number of established international luxury brands, as well as those that Malaysians have not seen in any store in Malaysia just yet,” says the good Datuk.
