BMW wants this car to be your dark shadow

BMW Malaysia invites you to the dark side with the debut of its 530i M Sport Dark Shadow Edition

When it comes to choosing your car, there are probably a ton of factors to take into consideration. But perhaps the colour of the said set of wheels could very well be one of the most important of them all. Sure, some may argue that this is just a trivial matter (yes – it will still get you from A to B), but let’s not pretend that looks don’t matter, shall we?

Picking a colour to your taste is indeed crucial. You (and everyone else) will look at your car every time you climb into it; you see it parked on your drive every day; and, if you’re unhappy with the colour, you’re probably unhappy with the car too. So, you need to choose wisely because, just like the clothes on your back, the colour of your car can reveal a lot about your personality…

Or not, because yes, it’s also very, very cool to be all dark and mysterious as well these days.

BMW goes dark with the limited edition 530i M Sport Dark Shadow Edition.

We suppose that’s why BMW has gone down this path of heightened drama and mystery recently. First, with its all-black BMW X7 Dark Shadow Edition that’s limited to just 500 models globally and, now, the carmaker continues its black celebration with the Malaysian debut of the BMW 530i M Sport Dark Shadow Edition.

Just like the earlier X7 Dark Shadow, this new car is also an exclusive limited edition, with just 36 units of the specially kitted out 5-Series in an all-black finish reserved for the Malaysian market. This G30 with the darkened aesthetic features BMW’s B48 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol inline-four cylinder, pushing out 252hp from 5,200 to 6,500rpm, and 350Nm of torque between 1,450 and 4,800rpm via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Available exclusively with a Carbon Black exterior, the 530i M Sport Dark Shadow Edition specification is also offered in a choice of either Dakota leather trim in black with blue stitching, or in Cognac with contrast stitching. And it’s also only natural for the car to be accessorised with matching Shadow Line parts, comprising black window trim, high-gloss black kidney grille and 20-inch M Performance alloy wheels finished in Orbit Grey, complete with tyre pressure monitoring – all worth over MYR37,000.

All in, the 530i M Sport Dark Shadow Edition will set you Ms or Mr Mysterious back some MYR392,800 on-the-road without insurance, and that’s a real bargain because that’s just about MYR10,000 more than the sticker price of a garden variety 530i M Sport, especially when one factors in the added value of the above mentioned above special accessories and trim.

The BMW 530i M Sport Dark Shadow Edition will be sold exclusively on BMW Shop Online. And, yes, if something like this strikes your fancy, you can hurry and book one now with just a MYR1,000 deposit. Of course, it is a little much to expect you to fork out that kind of cash based solely on what you see on the Internet.

You can view the BMW 530i M Sport Dark Shadow Edition in the flesh at the following  dealerships as long as you adhere to the by now familiar Covid-19 SOPs. Dark shades and black clothes during your visit is strictly optional:
