Accor To Open Mercure Living Genting Highlands With Tropicana In 2028

The new extended-stay property set within the Tropicana WindCity township offers 1,443 serviced suites.

Accor has signed an agreement with Tropicana Corporation Berhad to introduce Mercure Living Genting Highlands, a new extended-stay property scheduled to open in 2028. Located within the TwinPines Serviced Suites development at Tropicana Grandhill, the project marks the arrival of Accor’s residential-style hospitality concept in one of Malaysia’s most established mountain destinations.

The development will comprise 1,443 fully furnished serviced suites designed to accommodate longer stays while offering the conveniences typically associated with apartment living. Situated within the wider 596-acre Tropicana WindCity township, Mercure Living Genting Highlands is expected to appeal to a mix of leisure travellers, families, digital nomads and homeowners seeking professionally managed accommodation in the cooler climate of Genting Highlands.

The signing also reflects the continued evolution of Malaysia’s hospitality landscape, where branded residences and extended-stay concepts are becoming an increasingly important part of the market. Rather than catering solely to short-term visitors, Mercure Living has been conceived for guests who value the flexibility of a residence alongside the services and consistency of an international hotel brand.

Residential Approach To Hospitality

Accor Genting Highlands

Unlike a conventional hotel, Mercure Living properties are designed around the comforts of everyday living. At Genting Highlands, guests can expect spacious suites equipped with kitchen and dining facilities, allowing for longer, more self-sufficient stays without sacrificing hotel conveniences.

Facilities will include an all-day dining restaurant, executive lounge, heated swimming pool, fitness centre, multipurpose function hall and a range of shared lifestyle spaces intended to support both leisure and extended visits.

The property will form part of TwinPines Serviced Suites, a green-certified development within Tropicana Grandhill, a wellness-focused precinct that places an emphasis on outdoor living and the surrounding highland landscape. The broader Tropicana WindCity masterplan brings together residential, hospitality and lifestyle components across three freehold precincts, positioning the township as a long-term mixed-use destination rather than a traditional resort development.

Mercure’s brand philosophy, which celebrates local culture and neighbourhood experiences, also aligns naturally with Genting Highlands’ appeal beyond its entertainment offerings. The development aims to encourage guests to explore the destination’s cooler climate, natural surroundings and evolving leisure attractions while enjoying accommodation designed for greater flexibility.

Strengthening Malaysia’s Hospitality Pipeline

For Accor, the signing represents another step in the group’s continued expansion across Malaysia. The hospitality company currently operates 28 hotels nationwide, with a further pipeline of developments scheduled over the coming years.

The addition of Mercure Living Genting Highlands also expands Accor’s presence in the extended-stay segment, a category that has gained momentum as travel patterns continue to evolve. Increasingly, travellers are combining work with leisure, travelling with family across longer periods, or seeking accommodation that offers more space and independence than a traditional hotel room.

For Tropicana, meanwhile, the collaboration introduces an internationally recognised hospitality brand into its Genting Highlands development, adding another dimension to its integrated township vision.

Set to open in 2028, Mercure Living Genting Highlands reflects the growing convergence between residential living and hospitality, offering a contemporary accommodation model that responds to changing traveller expectations while reinforcing Genting Highlands’ position as one of Malaysia’s enduring leisure destinations.
