For a getaway, the idea of going nowhere can be surprisingly appealing. In Iskandar Puteri, that proposition is now being taken quite literally.
World Cruises has launched World Legacy from Puteri Harbour, giving Johor a new kind of leisure escape: one where the journey is less about reaching another destination and more about spending time at sea. Guests can board by scheduled ferry from Puteri Harbour Cruise Centre, spend the day onboard, stay overnight or extend their visit across several days.
It is a different proposition from the conventional cruise holiday, and one that fits neatly into the growing appetite for shorter, more flexible breaks.
A Day At Sea

World Legacy is designed to shift with the day. During daylight hours, the emphasis is on a slower pace, with sea views, open-air spaces and dining providing the backdrop for an easy escape from the city.
An upgraded international buffet serves a rotating selection of Asian and international dishes, while accommodation ranges from cosy two-person cabins to larger rooms suitable for families and groups. Selected VIP suites offer additional space and privacy, with around 300 cabins available across the vessel.

As evening arrives, the atmosphere changes. The Grand Hall on Deck 3 hosts daily live entertainment, including music, dance and karaoke, turning what begins as a daytime retreat into something more animated after dark.
The flexibility is arguably the more interesting part. A guest can simply spend several hours onboard, make a full day of it or take the last scheduled ferry and remain overnight, returning on the first scheduled ferry the following morning. With accommodation onboard, a day out at sea can become an overnight escape without the planning involved in a conventional cruise holiday.
A Different Kind Of Short Break

The concept also places Iskandar Puteri at the centre of the experience. Rather than requiring a flight or a long road journey, the escape begins at Puteri Harbour, with multiple scheduled ferry transfers operating throughout the day.
For World Cruises, the Johor launch is the first phase of a larger onboard proposition. Further dining, leisure and entertainment experiences are planned for October and November, building out World Legacy as a floating lifestyle destination rather than simply a place to spend a few hours at sea.

There is also a limited introductory offer of RM48 per person for Malaysians, subject to availability and while stocks last. The promotional fare includes round-trip ferry transfers, one-day access to the vessel, meals and onboard entertainment. Guests taking the last scheduled ferry to World Legacy and the first scheduled ferry the following morning can also remain onboard overnight, with accommodation included in the promotional fare.
The result is less a traditional cruise than a new interpretation of the short break: a change of scenery, a meal, a night at sea and, for a while at least, a reason to leave the shore without needing to travel very far.
