The long-awaited, highly anticipated Samsung S22 has arrived at our shores and it has definitely brought some glad tidings
As I unboxed it with sheer excitement, the first thing I noticed is the shiny and smooth metallic gold all-around cover. The glass back cover has replaced the plastic one (from the previous model). This has brought a more elegant and polished feel to the mobile phone. The S22 feels very compact. It’s smaller, slimmer, sleeker and of a pocketable size. It feels more comfortable to hold and the size is smaller compared to the S22+ and S22 Ultra.
The three rear cameras are all of similar sizes and lined up vertically. The edges of the camera feel rather sharp, the surface is not as smooth as I expected it to be. The new S22 has a better design aesthetic and style compared to the previous Samsung models. A USBC port, sim card tray and speaker grill are located at the bottom of the phone. The volume, on and off button is slightly raised, not as embedded as the previous models, allowing better accessibility. A single mic hole is located at the top of the phone.
An Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner appears on the screen once switched on. The screen display is sharp and clear, with enhanced colours. Apps run more smoothly and the camera launches at top speed. The camera can zoom much further and closer compared to previous models. With a higher resolution, the picture and video are more detailed. Its quality is crisp, bright and sharp with vibrant colour tones.
I also noticed that the battery life is longer compared to older models. What I love about the S22 is that even in Power saving mode, all the icons are still accessible. Unlike my previous Samsung phone, only 6 icons appeared on the screen, when switched to Power Saving mode. This proved to be rather inconvenient.
Overall, this is a huge upgrade from the previous S21 phone. Not only aesthetically pleasing but all-around improvements in function and performance. To say I love it is a huge understatement!
