Private vino club 67 Pall Mall will be opening a new four-storey club in the heart of French wine capital Bordeaux with a walkthrough, 8.2m-tall wine tower.

Slated for a 2025 opening, the latest outpost of the London’s hottest wine members’ club will occupy a prime spot in the city’s prestigious Triangle d’Or (golden triangle) district, near such historic and 18th-century architectural icons like the Place De La Comedie (Grand Theatre) and Church of Notre-Dame-de-Bordeaux

There, guests can enjoy an extensive 5,000-bottle wine programme – 2,000 of which are selected from local vineyards dotting the region. “The Club in Bordeaux will have the biggest Bordeaux wine selection of the group, and act as a home in the centre of the city for the surrounding chateaux and vineyards, working closely with classified growth chateaux,” says Grant Ashton, CEO and founder of 67 Pall Mall.

Unique labels to be expected include “multiple vintages of all the top Bordeaux wines”, with a focus on “rare and exclusive back vintages”, adds Ashton.

A further thousand will be sourced from other parts of France, with the remainder of their cellar space dedicated to bottles from across the globe. According to the club, “the largest sommelier team in the region” will guide guests through the club’s extensive programme, which includes 500 bottles sold by the glass.

A portion of their vast collection will take pride of place of the Bordeaux club’s magnificent wine tower. This is a significant margin taller than the 6m version in the 15,000 sqft Singaporean outpost, located in the Shaw Centre’s penthouse.

Gastronomic pairings come in the form of traditional southwestern French flavours, with an emphasis on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.

The ground floor houses a bar that is open to the general public, with the second and third floor clubroom, bar and private dining rooms reserved for 67 Pall Mall members only. The rooftop terrace, also exclusive, is said to offer a commanding view of the famed city.

The expansion to Bordeaux will be paired with another club in Beaune, a town at the centre of Burgundy wine country, in the same year. The club plans to shift its sights to Asia thereafter, adding five more club sites across the continent over the next seven years.

Those who can’t wait to 2025 can consider paying the local chapter a visit, which now hosts a quarterly resident chef series. The first of these, running now to September, features eight veggie-focused dishes from chef-owner Jeremy Gillon of Michelin-starred Restaurant Jag.
