In 2001, the world’s largest technology company Apple opened its first retail store in New York City. Offering visitors a unique consumer experience, Apple’s retailing arm quickly became a success, registering annual sales of USD1 billion within three years – the fastest company to hit that milestone in retail history.
To date, the Cupertino, California, based company has more than 500 outlets worldwide, including neighbouring Singapore and Thailand. The word now is that Apple will be opening a store in Kuala Lumpur soon, rumoured to be in the new social heart of Kuala Lumpur, The Exchange TRX.
According to Bloomberg News, Apple Inc has begun hiring employees for its retail operations in Malaysia. Recently, the company published several job listings from technical specialists to operations experts.
In addition, Apple is also working on expanding and renewing its retail chain across Asia. The tech giant is planning to open another 15 new stores in the Asia-Pacific region, five new locations each in Europe and the Middle East, and four outlets in North America. Furthermore, 21 Apple stores will be upgraded in various countries. Overall, the company will have a total of 53 new, reimagined stores worldwide by 2027.

Aside from its beautiful technology and gadgets, Apple’s retail spaces are equally impressive in Asia. These include the outlets in Singapore, Thailand, Japan and China, all of which have become world-famous for their spectacular designs. We imagine the Kuala Lumpur store will be at least as impressive.
