Ground Officially Breaks On Marina Bay Sands’ New Ultra-Luxury Resort And This Is What It Will Look Like

New development set to transform Singapore’s skyline and landscape.

Marina Bay Sands New Resort Launch

In a landmark ceremony marked by glitz and grandeur, Singapore Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Lawrence Wong, officiated the ground-breaking of Marina Bay Sands’ new US$8 billion ultra-luxury resort. The ambitious project is set to further position Singapore as a global hub for high-end tourism and entertainment.

The event, held at the future site of the development, was also attended by Robert Goldstein, Chairman and CEO of Las Vegas Sands, and Dr Miriam Adelson, co-founder of the company and widow of the late Sheldon Adelson — both instrumental in the original Marina Bay Sands’ success.

“This is not an extension of Marina Bay Sands, but a new building and entity of its own,” Goldstein noted during his remarks, underlining the scale and exclusivity of the venture. Designed once again by internationally renowned Safdie Architects, led by Moshe Safdie, the new resort will echo the iconic vision that defined the original MBS.

Luxury Transformation

The centrepiece of the development will be a 570-suite ultra-luxury hotel featuring an exclusive rooftop experience, destination dining and nightlife venues, luxury retail boutiques, and expansive wellness amenities. The resort will also house approximately 200,000 square feet of premium MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) space and a 15,000-seat arena, positioning Singapore as Asia’s top live entertainment destination.

“Tonight’s ground breaking is a new chapter for Singapore,” Prime Minister Wong said. “This development will grow our hospitality and tourism sectors, just as Marina Bay Sands has done over the years.”

Paul Town, COO of Marina Bay Sands, highlighted the project as a bold statement of confidence in Singapore’s future as a high-value tourism and business destination. “It will be more exclusive, more intimate, with elevated offerings that complement and enhance the existing MBS experience,” he said.

Construction is projected to span five years, with a target completion in 2030 and an official opening planned for January 2031, pending regulatory approval.
