French luxury goods tycoon Bernard Arnault was named the wealthy person atop the Forbes billionaire’s list, with an estimated fortune of $211bil (RM930bil).

Throughout his 30 years at the helm of LVMH, Arnault built it into the world’s largest luxury goods company, with over 70 brands, including Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany, Sephora, Givenchy, and Marc Jacobs.

Arnott, 74, has a personal fortune of $211 billion. That puts him more than $31 billion ahead of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, whose $44 billion acquisition of Twitter last year was followed by a crash in Tesla’s stock price that reduced his fortune to $180 billion, ranked second on the list.

The combined wealth of this year’s list reached $12.2 trillion altogether.

Particularly worth mentioning is the current list includes 150 newcomers. Jimmy Buffett, LeBron James, Tom Ford, and Tiger Woods are all officially billionaires.

According to a statement by Forbes, LVMH has had a stellar year, with its share price soaring 35 percent this year, adding $53 billion to Arnault’s personal fortune. Bernard Arnault has ranked third in the world in each of the last three editions of the annual list.
