Two decades after launching one of the watch world’s first enthusiast-facing watch expositions, Tempus — The Great Watchscapade, The Hour Glass (THG) reveals a new and much-anticipated community engagement platform IAMWATCH.
Held at the Singapore EDITION hotel this mid-October, this unique event features an intimately scaled four-day programme in a relaxed and casual tropical setting. Dedicated to the Pan-Asian watch-collecting community, IAMWATCH advocates face-to-face engagements between enthusiasts and collectors with watchmakers and industry luminaries where the primary objective is the shared transmission of passion, knowledge and stories.
Michael Tay, THG’s group managing director, explains the platform’s mission: “The story of time stretches back over two millennia, and the evolution of the portable watch, over the last 500 years. There is so much history to forage through, and at IAMWATCH, our desire is to lay a foundation of knowledge about the developmental path of the horological science and the watchmaking arts.”
This exclusive experience includes a curated presentation of more than 40 of THG friends, a series of fireside chats, horological lectures, as well as a host of other community activations. IAMWATCH opens by-invitation with a Private View session on Thursday, Oct 17, 3-5pm, followed by a Vernissage at 5-8pm. Admission is free and open to the public from Friday, Oct 18 to Sunday, Oct 20, 2024, from10am to 8pm.
Guests are required to pre-register at the IAMWATCH website for entry e-tickets. The dress code is “Double-wristed, Resort casual”, and attendees are encouraged to wear watches on both wrists.
Expect to rub shoulders with master watchmakers, industry leaders, and founders of independent manufactures. They include Benoit Mintiens of Ressence, Felix Baumgartner of Urwerk, Jean Arnault of LVMH, Kari Voutilainen of his eponymous brand, Maximilian Busser of MB&F, and Patrick Pruniaux of Girard-Perregaux.
Adds Tay, “Our hope is that all delegates leave IAMWATCH enriched by the human connections they have made, educated by the lectures and plenary sessions we have proposed and, motivated to continue down this joyous path of watch collecting into the future.”
