TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph Marks Zandvoort’s Final Dutch Grand Prix

The Swiss watch brand unveils two limited-edition Formula 1 Solargraph 38mm timepieces inspired by the circuit’s racing legacy.

At Circuit Zandvoort, where the track winds through the dunes and the grandstands sit remarkably close to the action, every lap carries a sense of immediacy. As the Dutch Grand Prix prepares to make its final appearance at the circuit, TAG Heuer marks the occasion with two limited-edition TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph 38mm timepieces.

Rooted in the design language of the original TAG Heuer Formula 1 introduced in 1986, the new watches bring together the collection’s motorsport heritage with the Solargraph movement and a more compact 38mm format.

Racing Heritage, Reworked

For TAG Heuer, motorsport has long been more than an association. It is part of the brand’s identity, shaped by decades of developing timing instruments for racing and by a philosophy in which precision can determine the difference between control and risk.

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 collection brought that racing attitude to everyday watchmaking when it debuted in 1986. Its combination of bold colours, distinctive design and sporting character gave the collection an identity that extended beyond the paddock.

The new Zandvoort editions revisit those codes while reflecting the character of the Dutch circuit. Its narrow layout, banked corners and coastal conditions create a race environment in which precision and adaptability are constantly tested. Since Formula 1 returned to Zandvoort, the circuit has also become synonymous with its sea of orange-clad supporters, giving the Dutch Grand Prix an atmosphere unlike any other on the calendar.

A Compact Expression Of Speed

Both new watches feature a 38mm sandblasted steel case, giving the familiar Formula 1 silhouette a more compact and contemporary presence. The matte finish reinforces their connection to the functional world of motorsport.

A grey dial provides the foundation, contrasted by orange and red detailing around the minuterie. The bidirectional bezel features TAG Heuer’s distinctive daisy motif, rendered in lightweight TH-Polylight, while the hands retain the form of the original Formula 1 design.

Applied indexes filled with eggshell Super-LumiNova enhance legibility in changing light, while the date display at three o’clock and TAG Heuer shields at six, nine and twelve maintain the collection’s familiar visual language.

The first edition is limited to 1,500 pieces and comes on a rubber strap. The second, limited to 1,000 pieces, is fitted with a three-row steel bracelet. Both are presented in dedicated packaging bearing the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Limited Edition inscription.

Powered By Light

Beneath the racing-inspired exterior is TAG Heuer’s Solargraph movement, which converts both natural and artificial light into energy.

Just one minute of direct sunlight can provide enough energy for a full day of operation, while less than 40 hours of light exposure can deliver up to 10 months of autonomy in complete darkness. Should the watch stop, just 10 seconds of exposure to light is enough to restart it.

The movement’s accumulator is designed to last up to 15 years, adding a practical dimension to the collection’s performance-driven character.

As Zandvoort prepares for its final Formula 1 weekend, the two limited editions offer TAG Heuer a fitting way to close the chapter: a contemporary Formula 1 watch carrying the visual DNA of its 1986 predecessor, powered by light and permanently tied to one of the sport’s most atmospheric circuits.
