Patek Philippe Cubitus Is A Reminder Why Its Hip To Be Square

A new stylish aesthetic for square watches

It’s taken a quarter of a century for Patek Phillipe to introduce a new range of watches. But by all accounts, the new Cubitus proves to have been well worth the wait. Exuding its own distinct character, the new timepiece arrives with an exclusive square-shaped case with an elegantly slim profile.

Over the years, Patek Phillipe has already created several quadrangular-shaped cases throughout its history, especially during the Art Deco period. However, for the new Cubitus collection, Patek Phillippe ventured into a new aesthetic with a completely original and innovative design.

Accentuated by a square bezel with rounded corners, the timepiece is both daring and subtle. By blending the square, the circle and octagon into one stylish design, the Cubitus exudes an incomparable stylish presentation.

Covering All Corners

With this stunning new geometry, the new Patek Phillipe timepiece exemplifies a character of its own. Just like the icons of the maison’s past such as the Calatrava, Ellipse, Nautilus and Aquanaut, the Cubitus is also set to carve its own enduring legacy. The model makes its debut in three versions, each with its own strong disposition to appeal to varied tastes and styles.

The Cubitus Instantaneous Grand Date, Day and Moon Phases, Reference 5822P-001 in platinum is testament to Patek Philippe’s prowess in haute horology. The model is powered by a new movement which unites a large-format date, the moon phase and the day of the week, all changing instantaneously.

On the back of the 45mm case lies a transparent sapphire-crystal caseback revealing a view of the movement, with its 22K gold off-centre mini-rotor presenting the same horizontal decoration as the dial. The model is paired with a composite navy blue fabric strap with a platinum fold-over clasp.

To play up the elegant and daring design of the new Cubitus collection, Patek Philippe has endowed the Reference 5821/1AR-001 with a two-tone iteration. Both the bezel and central links in rose gold are combined with the caseband and lateral links in steel. A beautiful blue sunburst dial provides a fitting contrast to the outlook of the watch.

The Cubitus Reference 5821/1A-001 is paired with a slim steel case, an integrated bracelet and an olive-green sunburst dial. At the heart of this new model beats the same calibre 26-330 S C self-winding movement that powers the Cubitus Reference 5821/1AR-001, with a central rotor in 21K gold adorned with a horizontal motif.

To further turn up the style factor, Patek Philippe has also included matching new cufflinks designed to complement and match each watch.
