In anticipation of the Year of the Horse, which begins in mid-February 2026, Montblanc unveils a new collector’s piece within its esteemed Signs & Symbols collection: the Legend of Zodiacs – The Horse Limited Edition 512. The release continues the Maison’s tradition of blending fine craftsmanship with cultural storytelling, offering a contemporary interpretation of ancient symbolism.
Rooted in East Asian mythology and Chinese zodiac lore, the edition pays homage to the Horse — the seventh sign of the zodiac — long associated with vitality, independence and endurance. Revered as a symbol of movement and progress, the Horse embodies a spirit of ambition that aligns seamlessly with Montblanc’s legacy of craftsmanship and self-expression.
Collector’s Item

The pen’s Ag 925 sterling silver cap is hand-engraved with the image of the tianma, the celestial horse of Chinese folklore believed to traverse between heaven and earth. Surrounding it are auspicious motifs traditionally linked to prosperity and good fortune. Complementing the cap, the platinum-coated barrel is adorned with an intricate Chinese knot pattern, a symbol of continuity, harmony and longevity.
Further symbolic details are woven throughout the design. A topaz gemstone, regarded as the Horse’s birthstone, is set into the cone, while the Au 750 solid gold nib is engraved with a flying horse motif — a visual expression of ascension, freedom and boundless aspiration. The edition is limited to 512 pieces, a number derived from 8 × 8 × 8, widely considered auspicious in Chinese culture and associated with wealth and balance.
Completing the release is a curated selection of accessories available separately, including horse-motif cufflinks, a red Lunar New Year notebook, and deep red ink housed in a specially designed bottle. Each piece echoes traditional festive hues and reinforces the narrative of renewal, fortune and cultural continuity.
With the Legend of Zodiacs – The Horse Limited Edition 512, Montblanc offers more than a writing instrument — it presents a refined talisman for the year ahead, where craftsmanship, symbolism and tradition converge.
