Since its emergence in 2020, Hermes Beauty has given us products to pretty up our lips, hands and skin. With its new Le Regard range, the French luxury brand is now looking to doll up the windows to our souls.
Comprising six eyeshadow palettes, six mascaras, four brushes and one eyelash curler, the collection includes some of the house’s signature colours (such as Rouge H, the shade of one mascara) alongside other timeless hues. As you would expect, the quality is top-notch, with light and blendable formulations comprising mostly natural-origin ingredients.
The Ombres d’Hermes eyeshadow palettes play with colours as well as shapes. Each of the six palettes feature four powder eyeshadows. In each palette, there are two round and two square pans, set in a graphic, Bauhaus-style composition. Three of these colours feature subtle or neutral hues (including one or two shimmery shades), while the fourth colour is a stronger one that serves as “a creative accent”.
No eye-product collection, of course, would be complete without mascara. The Trait d’Hermes mascara range offers six different colours, including black (Noir Fusain), reddish brown (Rouge H, the house’s heritage hue), and more exotic hues such as green (Vert Titian) and purple (Violet Indigo).
Some of these colours might sound straight out of a cosplayer’s cosmetic kit, but hey, this is Hermes. True to tasteful form, the hues are very subtle, especially when used with dark Asian eyelashes. And again, because we are talking about Hermes after all, do not expect tackily oversized eyelashes with these mascaras — instead, the ultra-fine brush helps the gentle formulas to lightly coat each lash without any flaking or transfer.
While the eyeshadows are blendable and can be applied with a finger, Le Regard also includes four different brushes for those with more pro makeup moves. The eyeshadow brushes allow you to apply, line or blend, while a brow brush helps to neaten luxuriant brows.
No less importantly, these beauty products look like collectibles, rather than just your typical fast-moving consumer goods: Designed by Pierre Hardy, the brand’s creative director for shoes and jewellery, and designer of objects for beauty, the white and gold packaging is chic and minimalist, and stamped with the house’s signature ex-libris. Indeed, the eyeshadow palettes are refillable, making them anything but throwaway objects.
The Ombres d’Hermes eyeshadow palettes retail for $183. (Refills retail for $96 each.)
The Ombres d’Hermes brushes range from $158 to $176.
The Trait d’Hermes mascara retail for $114.
The Trait d’Hermes eyelash curler retails for $131.
