Six Decades In The Making: The Glen Grant Splendours Collection Is Exquisitely Rare

The first release arrives in limited quantities and a USD50,0000 price tag.

Distilled in Scotland in 1958, the 65-Year-Old is the first whisky to launch in the Splendours Collection.

The words ‘old is gold’ is never truer in the world of Scotch whiskies. Take for instance, The Glen Grant Splendours Collection, which features a rare expression over six decades in the making. And the whisky maker is not stopping at just one.

The Splendours Collection is derived from an exquisite selection from the rarest whiskies maturing at The Glen Grant distillery. The collection of highly limited releases will be unveiled over the coming years. Its first though has just made its debut – an extraordinary 65-Year-Old single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1958 and nurtured to perfection for over sixty years.

Inspired By Nature

Glen Grant Splendours

The whisky is presented in 151 handcrafted designer decanters.

The Glen Grant’s Splendours Collection draws inspiration from the distillery’s iconic Garden of Splendours. Celebrating natural elements flourishing on the grounds, the first release represents a tribute to the Himalayan Blue Poppy, one of the rarest flowers, which blooms in the Garden today. This flower symbolises the distillery’s legacy and the pursuit of excellence set by its charismatic forefather, James ‘The Major’ Grant.

The whisky is presented in 151 handcrafted decanters, designed by John Galvin and Glasstorm. Each decanter takes the shape of a Mobius strip seed pod, representing the timeless flow of nature. Engraved with Himalayan Blue Poppies and crafted from wood species still present in the Garden, these decanters blend nature’s elegance with The Glen Grant’s commitment to excellence.

And then there is the whisky itself. Distilled in 1958, the spirit was aged for decades in a single French oak butt. This careful maturation in Warehouse No.4, the distillery’s oldest stone dunnage warehouse, results in a unique and scarce expression that reflects The Glen Grant’s meticulous craftsmanship.

Greig Stables, Master Distiller, notes that the distillery’s consistent methods, unchanged since its founding, have contributed to this exceptional spirit. The whisky’s rarity and character make it a remarkable piece of The Glen Grant’s heritage.

Immersive Art

The Glen Grant and post-digital art group Random International will present a live performance painting experience.

Available only in select markets, the rare release is also celebrated through a partnership with Random International. The post-digital art group will unveil an immersive experience at Art Week Hong Kong titled performance, “Seasons”, which draws inspiration from the cycles of nature and the distillery’s garden.

The performance will feature Pixelography, a unique technique turning digital data into hand-painted masterpieces. 65 bespoke artworks will be created, symbolizing the 65-Year-Old decanter and the passage of the four seasons.

This public exhibition at The Upper House Hong Kong taking place from 27-28 March, 2025 offers an opportunity for guests to experience both the artistic process and The Glen Grant whisky, deepening the connection between the spirit, nature, and art.
