5 Things To Know About IWC’s New Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team Watch

From its Singapore-inspired purple dial to a lightweight titanium case and IWC’s in-house chronograph movement, here’s what makes the latest team watch worth knowing.

With the Singapore Grand Prix approaching, IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled its fourth official team watch for the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team. The new Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 combines the practical codes of IWC’s Pilot’s collection with details inspired by Singapore and materials familiar to the world of motorsport. Here are five things to know.

1. The purple dial is a Singapore tribute

The most immediate talking point is the watch’s deep purple dial – a first for IWC’s Pilot’s collection. Its colour takes inspiration from Vanda Miss Joaquim, Singapore’s national flower. The orchid’s associations with resilience, boldness and innovation also mirror the values shared by IWC and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team.

2. It brings F1 materials to the wrist

The 41mm case is made from Grade 5 titanium, a material valued in Formula One for its strength, light weight and resistance to heat and corrosion. At roughly half the weight of steel, titanium is used across motorsport, including in components such as engine parts and the Halo safety device.

3. PETRONAS green makes the purple pop

The Singapore-inspired dial is balanced by Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS’ unmistakable green. The colour appears on the numerals and indices, while the hands feature green luminescent coating for legibility. A matching purple rubber strap completes the look, with IWC’s EasX-CHANGE system allowing it to be swapped without tools.

4. Inside is IWC’s 69385 calibre

The watch is powered by IWC’s manufactured 69385 calibre, a mechanical chronograph built around a classical column-wheel architecture. Its vertical subdial at 12 o’clock displays the stopped minutes, while a day-date display sits at 3 o’clock. The bidirectional pawl winding system provides a 46-hour power reserve, with the movement visible through the sapphire-glass case back.

5. It continues a four-watch F1 story

IWC has partnered with Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team since 2013, while the official team-watch series began in 2022. The new chronograph follows a titanium model from 2022, a Ceratanium® Performance Chronograph from 2023 and the three-hand Pilot’s Watch Mark XX from 2025. Like those before it, the latest watch will be worn trackside by team members, including mechanics and engineers, as well as staff at the team’s headquarters in Brackley.

The result is less a conventional racing watch than a meeting point between IWC’s aviation heritage, Formula One engineering and the visual character of Singapore – distilled into one particularly vivid chronograph.
