Rado Captain Cook: A New Expression Of Golden Brilliance And Contemporary Elegance

The brand expands the family with a shimmering golden dial, blending vintage inspiration with contemporary watchmaking.

Rado Captain Cook Shimmering Golden Dial introduces a striking new interpretation of the brand’s iconic dive watch, bringing together heritage design, material innovation and a captivating golden dial. First introduced in 1962, the Captain Cook continues to evolve while retaining the distinctive character that has made it one of Rado’s most recognisable collections.

For this latest creation, Rado places the dial at the centre of attention. A shimmering golden surface creates a sense of movement, with its diamond powder-like texture catching the light from every angle. The result is a timepiece that combines vintage inspiration with a confident and contemporary attitude.

A Shimmering New Interpretation Of A Classic

The new Rado Rado Shimmering Golden Dial introduces a unique dial treatment developed through a complex multi-stage process. Its glittering golden finish creates an organic texture that changes with every movement of the wrist, giving the watch a dynamic visual presence.

Meanwhile, the box-shaped sapphire crystal enhances the dial’s depth while offering an anti-reflective coating on both sides. This detail allows the shimmering surface to remain the focus while improving readability in different lighting conditions. The watch maintains the familiar design language of the Captain Cook collection, including its bold hands, applied indices, minute markings and rotating bezel. However, the new golden dial introduces a more expressive personality to the classic silhouette.

Balancing Heritage With Modern Performance

Beyond its visual appeal, the new Rado Shimmering Golden Dial delivers the technical reliability expected from a modern Rado timepiece. The watch features a 39mm polished stainless steel case paired with a yellow gold-coloured PVD-coated bezel and polished black high-tech ceramic insert.

Powering the watch is the Rado calibre R763 automatic movement, offering an 80-hour power reserve and enhanced accuracy through an antimagnetic Nivachron™ hairspring. The movement also exceeds standard testing requirements across multiple positions, ensuring dependable performance. Additionally, the timepiece remains ready for exploration with water resistance up to 30 bar, while white Super-LumiNova® details on the hands and indices provide visibility when light conditions change.

Designed For Versatility And Everyday Adventure

The new Captain Cook expands its versatility through Rado’s EasyClip quick-release system, allowing the wearer to switch between a stainless steel bracelet and a black rubber strap with ease.

The stainless steel bracelet combines brushed outer links with polished rice grain-style middle links, creating a refined look that complements the polished case. For a more relaxed approach, the black rubber strap offers a lightweight feel while echoing the dark tones of the ceramic bezel. As a result, the watch transitions effortlessly between different settings, balancing classic elegance with a modern spirit.

Rado’s Legacy As The Master Of Materials

Driven by a pioneering approach to materials, Rado has continued to redefine Swiss watchmaking since 1917. Known as the “Master of Materials”, the brand has built its identity through innovative use of high-tech ceramic and distinctive design. Through the new Rado Captain Cook, the Maison continues to explore the relationship between heritage and innovation. With its shimmering golden dial, reliable movement and versatile design, the timepiece represents a modern evolution of a classic collection.
