As anticipation builds for the FIFA World Cup 2026—the first edition to be hosted across three nations—Royal Selangor offers a more tactile way to engage with the tournament. Its newly unveiled special edition collection translates the global spectacle into a series of objects that are at once commemorative and considered.

Spanning drinkware, desk accessories and figurines, the collection draws on the visual language of the 2026 tournament, where Canada, the United States and Mexico share the stage. Motifs are distilled into line art—emblems, typography and silhouettes—applied with restraint across pewter surfaces. The result is less overtly celebratory merchandise, and more a study in how a global sporting identity can be expressed through material and form.
Crafting A Shared Identity

Central to the collection are the three official mascots—Maple™, Zayu™ and Clutch™—each representing their respective host nation while contributing to a broader narrative of unity. Cast in pewter, the figurines are rendered with a solidity that contrasts with their animated origins, grounding them as collectible objects rather than fleeting symbols.

Elsewhere, pieces such as the gilt medallion and satin-finish football trophy take on a more explicitly commemorative role, marking the tournament’s historic tri-nation format. Subtler items—a coaster, a tumbler, a tankard—incorporate geometric references to the game itself: the square of the pitch, the circle of the ball, the repetition of form as both design motif and visual rhythm.
Memory, Materialised

What emerges is a collection that positions itself between souvenir and design object. Royal Selangor, long associated with pewter craftsmanship, leans into its material heritage while aligning with the cultural reach of football. The emphasis is not on novelty, but on permanence—objects intended to endure beyond the tournament’s final whistle.
In this sense, the collection reflects a broader shift in how global sporting events are remembered. Rather than ephemeral memorabilia, there is a growing appetite for pieces that carry both narrative and material weight. Here, the spectacle of the World Cup is distilled into something quieter: a series of forms that invite reflection as much as celebration.
