Penfolds welcomes the Year of the Horse with its new Zodiac Series. The new collection was showcased at a Lunar New Year presentation in Shenzhen recently with the spotlight squarely shown on its most coveted wines and the enduring appeal of its Zodiac Series.
Long admired by Chinese collectors, the annual release marries traditional symbolism with Penfolds’ uncompromising approach to fine winemaking, resulting in bottles prized as much for the cellar as for the festive table. The Year of the Horse limited edition draws inspiration from the vitality, momentum and strength associated with the zodiac animal.

These qualities are reflected not only in the bespoke bottle and gift-box designs—featuring Chinese papercutting motifs and auspicious details—but also in the stature of the wines themselves. Each release is conceived as a lasting object of desire, celebrating both cultural heritage and vinous excellence.
This year’s collection spans the upper echelons of the Penfolds portfolio. Alongside the ever-popular Bin 389, affectionately known as “Baby Grange”, the line-up includes the iconic Grange, the commanding Bin 707, the elegantly structured St Henri, and the distinguished FWT 585. Together, they offer a compelling portrait of Penfolds’ house style, from balance and precision to depth, power and remarkable ageing potential.

As Penfolds continues to deepen its dialogue with Chinese wine lovers, the Zodiac Series remains a powerful expression of the brand’s philosophy: honouring tradition while producing wines of enduring value and international standing. The Year of the Horse edition stands as both a celebration of the season and a confident statement of Penfolds’ place among the world’s most prominent fine-wine houses.
