Seiko 5 Sports And Pepsi Revisit The ’90s With Bold Limited-Edition GMT Watches

The limited-edition model delivers a healthy dose of nostalgia.

When it comes to pop culture collaborations, Seiko 5 has effectively written the book on cool crossovers. In the past, the iconic model has unleashed timepieces that take inspiration from brands such as the Honda Cub, Datsun and even Ultraman. Now, Seiko 5 continues with its heritage and cultural crossover with global icon Pepsi.

Seiko 5 Pepsi Black

Launching in September, the new limited edition collaboration fuses nostalgia with modern watchmaking. Offered in a pair of timepieces, each pay homage to the 1990s era of Pepsi branding and the legacy of Seiko’s iconic SKX design.

At first glance, the collaboration may seem unexpected, but the connection runs deeper than aesthetics. Both Seiko 5 Sports and Pepsi have cultivated massive followings across generations, and both continue to evolve while remaining rooted in tradition. It’s this shared ethos as well as timeless appeal, bold reinvention, and mass accessibility underpins the spirit of the collaboration.

A 90s Throwback

Visually, the watches are a direct nod to the 1990s Pepsi logo, with its unmistakable red, white, and blue colour palette. One model features a 38mm stainless steel case, paired with a silver-toned white dial, crisp white indexes, and deep blue accents that offer a fresh, dynamic look. The design faithfully reproduces the retro Pepsi logo typeface at the 6 o’clock position.

The second model embraces a bolder wrist presence, housed in a 42mm case and powered by Seiko’s Calibre 4R34, complete with GMT functionality — allowing for dual time zone tracking. This marks a first for the SKX-series GMT, which now arrives with a silicone strap built for versatility and comfort. The strap features “PEPSI” embossed at 12 o’clock and the iconic logo at 6 o’clock.

Cola Cool

Each watch is housed in special Pepsi can-inspired packaging, turning it into both a collector’s item and a functional accessory. The transparent case back reveals the mechanical movement and features the Pepsi logo and a unique serial number, a clear signal of the release’s exclusivity.

Seiko will release 7,000 pieces of each model globally and sell them exclusively through its online shop starting September 2025.
