Multi-Sensory Showcase: An Immersive Journey Of ASMR Is Taking Place In Hong Kong

The exhibition created and presented in collaboration with ArkDes takes place at AIRSIDE.

Open now until July, AIRSIDE in Hong Kong is presenting WEIRD SENSATION FEELS GOOD: The World of ASMR. The immersive, museum-quality exhibition is taking place at GATE33 Gallery. This is the first time such a large-scale exploration of ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) has been brought to Hong Kong.

The exhibition, which runs until 13 July 2025, is part of the city’s Super March 2025 art month and marks AIRSIDE’s collaboration with international art institutions. Originally curated by James Taylor-Foster at Sweden’s ArkDes and later presented at the Design Museum in London, this exhibition showcases over 40 works by contemporary artists, designers, and ASMRtists.

Visitors will embark on a sensory journey, experiencing the tingling, calming sensation that defines ASMR through a variety of multimedia installations and interactive spaces. Key highlights include an ASMR Arena – a 100sqm+ space made from soft woven pillows invites visitors to explore immersive ASMR audio-visual works.

There are also new works by local artists AK Kan and Kin Lam on display including soundscapes and an interactive ASMR studio, which showcase the city’s auditory identity. There’s also a special Bob Ross Tribute, featuring a room dedicated to the late TV personality, known as the “Godfather of ASMR,” with original paintings and episodes from The Joy of Painting.

Works by global artists such as Tobias Bradford and Marc Teyssier, exploring the intersection of art and technology in ASMR will also on display. Visitors can also trace the origins of ASMR and the coining of the term in 2009 through a special display.
