To mark the one-year countdown to the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games, OMEGA has unveiled a striking Countdown Clock. Located in Piazza Angelo Dibona in Cortina d’Ampezzo, the clock, designed in the shape of the Milano Cortina 2026 emblem. It also features four continuous timers for the days, hours, minutes, and seconds to both the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Italian and English.
The unveiling ceremony on 6 March brought together key figures from OMEGA and the International Paralympic Committee. Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA, and Andrew Parsons, President of the International Paralympic Committee were some of the attende.
Aeschlimann reflected on OMEGA’s deep connection to Cortina, noting the brand’s role in timing the 1956 Olympic Winter Games and its return 70 years later to time both the Olympic and Paralympic events.
All In The Timing
As the Official Timekeeper of the Paralympic Games since Albertville 1992, OMEGA’s role is crucial in ensuring precise timing during every event. Alain Zobrist, CEO of OMEGA Timing, highlighted the brand’s expertise, saying OMEGA uses the same cutting-edge technology for the Paralympic Winter Games as it does for the Olympic Games, with special equipment tailored to specific events.
The Countdown Clock not only marks the excitement building around the Games but also represents OMEGA’s continued support for the Paralympic movement. “There’s a real sense of energy around these Games,” said Andrew Parsons. “OMEGA brings unmatched expertise, and we are thrilled to partner with them as we approach this milestone.”
The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will take place from 6-15 March, with up to 650 athletes from 50 countries competing in 79 events across six sports. Andrea Varnier, CEO of Milano Cortina 2026, emphasized the significance of the event, noting the historical importance of hosting the Games in two cities—Milano and Cortina.
To commemorate this milestone, OMEGA also introduced the Seamaster 37 mm Milano Cortina 2026, a limited-edition timepiece celebrating the brand’s legacy in precision timekeeping.
