The Macallan’s third and latest edition of their sustainability-forward annual series, The Harmony Collection, sees a collaborative 11-piece lifestyle collection by sisters Stella and Mary McCartney supported by two distinct limited-edition labels.
The fashion designer and portrait photographer, working together for the first time in their professional careers, channelled treasured memories in their family home on Scotland’s west coast and more recent time spent at the historic Macallan estate into a 11-piece collection of bar accessories rooted in the area’s natural beauty.
These will be supported by two expressions similarly inspired by the sisters’ memories of Scotland: The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow and Green Meadow, both bearing photography of the estate shot by Mary McCartney herself.
Each of the boxes and labels will also be made with discarded meadow cuttings, reinforcing the ethos of The Macallan’s Harmony Collection.
Previous editions include a coffee- and chocolate-focused limited release, anchored on the same mission of sustainable packaging amid luxurious expressions of the estate’s celebrated spirits.
Meanwhile, the raw power of the River Spey, the surrounding verdant forests and the sheer vastness of the Scottish countryside are showcased in a curated selection of handcrafted homeware.
Pieces include an ombre ceramic flask encased in an apple leather sleeve; a pair of brass ice stamps sporting hand-painted ceramic handles in green and amber; a selection of glassware coloured by natural minerals; and a brass napkin weight in the shape of an acorn, a nod to the oak casks underpinning The Macallan’s feted whisky.
The green, in this case, represents the estate in its entirety, a 485-acre testament to terroir and sustainable practices that keep the heart of the Scottish distillery utterly and completely whole.
Meanwhile, amber tones signify the natural, unadulterated hue of whisky, created by time-honoured traditions that respect the lay of the land – here represented by the colour red, itself representative of The Macallan.
Stella McCartney said, “We all – The Macallan, Mary and I – wanted to create a collection that celebrated the highest quality of materials and incredible craftsmanship that would be fitting of the shared values between us all. We envisaged pieces that were limited, yet would work together as a family. The idea was to have it live in your home, stand out, and of course be of the highest quality.”
In recognition of the sisters’ first collaborative effort with the estate, the set will bear both partners’ coat of arms with the apt title of ‘Together’. The 11-piece collection will be sold as a complete set in limited quantities.
