Zipangu Launches 5-Course Sake Pairing Set Dinner

If authentic Japanese dining in a zen-like setting is for you, Zipangu at Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur may be a great place to experience your next great culinary adventure. Popular for its authentic premium Japanese fine-dining, Zipangu has launched a unique Saké Pairing 5-course set dinner menu. Curated by its renowned Japanese Head Chef, Nao Takeshita in collaboration with Master Saké Sommelier Danny Leong, this exquisite pairing will be available for a limited time only, so be sure to make plans to visit soon.

The first course on the menu begins with four types of Sashimi, Tuna, Botan Shrimp, Butter Fish, Salmon, and Yellowtail. To achieve a smooth finish, this course is paired with Gekkeikan Horin Juimai Daiginjo Saké which creates a smooth flavour with plenty of umami notes.

The second course is a hot dish serving Chawanmushi with Foie Gras Teriyaki, Grilled Eel, and Caviar paired with Gekkeikan Cho-Tokusen with Gold Leaf. These pairing carries both sweet and dry notes with a long and smooth finish that complements and refreshes the palate.

The dinner’s main course serves a grand Teppanyaki Lamb with Butter Ponzu Sauce followed by Soba Noodle and Assorted Hot or Cold Tempura. These dishes are paired with the Gekkeikan Traditional Saké which has a 70 per cent rice polishing ratio that brings out the mild fruity aroma with delicate notes of over-ripe cantaloupe, honeydew and honeysuckle. These flavours blend well together and really bring out the flavour of the Saké.

Dessert on the menu consists of Vanilla Ice-Cream with Sakura Cointreau Jelly and Red Bean. Paired with Gekkeikan Utakata Sparkling Saké, it is the perfect combination of sweetness with a fruity, flowery flavour and a refreshing acidity.

This specially curated Saké Pairing 5-course set dinner will be available from 14 – 30 March 2022, Mondays to Wednesdays and priced at RM438 nett. Maybank Platinum American Express and Maybank Premium card holders are entitled to an exclusive 20% off the nett rate.
