The evergreen vintage glamour of old Malaysiana comes back into the spotlight through the new releases in the Gembira home collection from pewter masters, Royal Selangor. Evoking the aesthetics of mid-twentieth century Malaysia and inspired by the floral hand-block patterns of Malaysian batik, the Gembira collection celebrates nostalgia for a bygone Malaya.
This release is an extension to the collection, adding four new products to the range. The new drum-shaped tea caddy will fit in nicely with the previously released Gembira tea set, with the soft pohon bunga patterned outer lid opening to reveal a precision-fit inner lid to keep the tea leaves within at peak freshness. The dark walnut-stained nyatoh wood inset on the top of the tea caddy breaks the all-silver silhouette and also conjures the wood-heavy decor of traditional Malaysian homes. Another addition for use at the dining table is the Gembira tumbler, with it exquisitely rendered pohon bunga floral patterning running all along the exterior.
The walnut-stained nyatoh also makes an appearance in the new Gembira plate, between zigzags of pewter carved in a pucuk rebung motif, perfect as a tasteful decorative piece on the mantel or to hold your keys and other small items. A 4R-size photo frame is the final addition, also bearing the traditional and distinct floral patterns and pucuk rebung zigzags commonly found in locally-made batik. Both the plate and photo frame can be personalised with an inscription, making it a perfect gift for special occasions.
