Time is of the essence when travelling and sometimes there is no time at all to make sense of the day and time when you come out on the other side of the plane. Fortunately, the Montblanc Heritage GMT is just the kind of classy yet functional automatic watch that helps keep track of time no matter where you are.
Part of Montblanc’s new Heritage collection that was showcased during SIHH 2019 alongside the Heritage Spirit Pulsograph and Heritage Perpetual Calendar, the idea behind the Heritage GMT is to create a watch that appears vintage yet retains the benefits of a modern timepiece.

Inspired largely by the Minerva classic wristwatches from the 1940s and 1950s, the Heritage GMTÂ is a 40mm stainless steel case timepiece with a silvery-white dial with rhodium-coated Arabic numerals that adorn the dial. In low light, visibility is enhanced thanks to the use of Super-LumiNova on the dots and hands.
Inside, an automatic calibre MB 24.26 ticks away tirelessly and it maintains a 38-hour power reserve.
On the wrist, Heritage GMT appears slim with an 11.8mm thickness and presents itself as an eye-catching piece and easily matches your attire be it is for business or pleasure.
Montblanc has spared no expense when it comes to details on this watch. Turn over the 40mm stainless steel case and you will catch the beautifully detailed Minvera Manufacture engraving that is a marvel to behold.

Quite possibly, the highlight of the Heritage GMT is its ability to display a second time zone. Nested around the dial is a blue 24-hour track that matches the blue GMT hand.
The Heritage GMT’s most useful complication is its second-time zone in which a blue arrow-tipped hand and 24-hour chapter ring on the dial
There is no mistaking that the Heritage GMT is a visually striking retro-inspired watch but one nice touch vintage watch fans will come to appreciate is the use of the old-school Montblanc logo with the snowcapped mountain top prominently centred in the dial. That in itself adds to the immersion and the identity that the Heritage GMY aspires to present and is no doubt a very smart looking timepiece that is at home on the wrist of the discerning traveller.
