As the bicentennial year since Sir Stamford Raffles’ arrival on the island, Singapore is unmistakably in a pervasive mood of celebration, even after the Singapore National Day Parade ended. If you weren’t there to witness the march, here are a few things you can do to catch up in their revelry.

Keep your eyes peeled for a deluge of visual wonders. With the annual Singapore Night Festival (SNF) greeting its 12th edition along with the Singapore Bicentennial celebration, the Bras Basah.Bugis district will be getting its once-a-year makeover. With 16 light artworks and more than 40 performances lining up for the 9 days event, frequent visitors to the island state will be surprised to discover a brand new and unfamiliar district as night falls.
By the magical machination of light art installations, laser beams, spotlights and projectors, the Armenian Church, the Stamford Clock tower and even the iconic Banyan tree at the National Museum of Singapore will all be coming alive in a whole new visage. You may also bump into sprite-like theatre characters roaming the walkways along Queen Street. The pièce de résistance, however, is Fuerza Bruta’s immersive theatre show which promises to flood the senses with its uninhibited world built up with suspended ‘stages’, dynamic up-close-and-personal encounters and aerial acts.
