Watch afficionados know that if one were to delve into the craftsmanship and innovation beneath the dial of a Breguet watch, what is apparent is each timepiece, not least from its Classique collection, is always worth exactly, if not more than, its asking price.
The Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Automatique 5367 is the perfect example of the subtle yet sublime beauty of Breguet’s watches. The pristine white dial you see is thanks to a grand feu enameling technique and is designed minimally so as not to take away the focus from the fantastic tourbillon at 5 o’clock. To this end, this new 5367 also doesn’t have a power reserve indicator as seen on the reference 5377 presented in 2013.
The tourbillon itself is a marvel to behold with its hand-bevelled tourbillon bar topped with a single spinel. Within the tourbillon complication, the escapement beats with a frequency of 4Hz and the bluish colour of the silicon escapement can also be seen upon closer examination. One of the little tricks Abraham Louis Breguet used to distinguish watches from the counterfeit ones back in the day was a little signature on the dial. This can also be seen etched on the grand feu enamel dial right above the tourbillon.
The movement within the watch is the extra thin calibre 581, which measures in at 3mm thick; and this ultimately allows the case of the 5367 to be constrained within a 7.45mm height so it will slip perfectly under any shirt cuff.
