For the longest time, Breitling was considered the master of the skies: its Navitimer is a longstanding icon of the brand and still remains one of the more popular pilot’s watches to date. However, with a new CEO on board, the brand’s direction has now expanded to encompass the realms of both land and sea.
It is not that far a stretch for Breitling as, unbeknownst to most, the Swiss watchmaker already had a collection of dive watches that date back to 1957. The Superocean was created back then for professional divers but, as with the dive watches of today, was quickly adopted by the public for more general use. Last year, the Superocean Heritage line was revived, modernising the collection but still keeping its design elements, and, this year, Breitling issued the Superocean Heritage II.
In keeping with today’s watch trends, the case of the new Superocean Heritage II comes in 42mm or 44mm variations, and even offers a new stainless-steel bezel with an ultrahard high-tech ceramic ring that is both scratchproof and extremely shock-resistant.

Undoubtedly the flagship reference of this new collection, this watch comes with the inhouse Calibre B01 chronograph movement. Since its introduction, this movement has already established itself as one of the most reliable mechanical movements, with an impressive power reserve of more than 70 hours. Furthermore, the contrasting panda dial, with subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock, give the watch quite a nice vintage look.
