01 OVER THE MOON

Is there any watch more sublime than Parmigiani Fleurier’s Tonda 1950 Lune? Perhaps, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find another timepiece that marries a streamlined aesthetic beautifully with an ultra-thin movement featuring a micro-rotor designed, developed and manufactured entirely within the Parmigiani Fleurier watchmaking centre. The automatic calibre PF708 movement – only 4mm thick – not only powers the hour and minute hands for 48 hours, it also keeps the moon phase function alive. The moon phase is clearly seen on the black opaline dial as the rose gold moon discs reproduce the lunar cycle for both hemispheres. Surrounding the rosy orbs is a calibrated scale corresponding to a lunar month of 29½ days. What’s more, the moon phase only requires correction once every three years. Balancing the breathtaking moon phase is an elegant small seconds that surrounds the date window at 6 o’clock.
