OSK Property Holdings Bhd’s Melbourne Square development is set to add an icon to the Australian city.

There is something suitably satisfying about the upcoming Melbourne Square, located just on the fringes of the Australian city’s CBD. Spearheaded by OSK Property Holdings Bhd, one of Malaysia’s leading developers, the scope and ambition of Melbourne Square is nothing less than breathtaking: transforming a five-acre site currently serving as a parking lot into what Project Manager Ding Say Aun calls a “significant and iconic project that will create both liveability and sustainability in the heart of Melbourne”.

The Southbank precinct site of what is the largest integrated development in Melbourne will eventually deliver six towers of residential units, offices, a hotel and retail space, all complemented with a 3,700 sq m park, the first such green lung in the area. Ding adds that Melbourne Square will also provide distinct amenities to local residents, including the first full-scale supermarket in the precinct. “Southbank is a very established neighbourhood and what we are doing in Melbourne Square will only complement the neighbourhood,” he says. “The park, for example, is not exclusive to residents of Melbourne Square, but accessible to the public as well.”

The allure of Melbourne Square is further enhanced by its location right in the heart of the city. The CBD is within walking distance, while the Crown Casino Entertainment Complex is, quite literally, a couple of corners away. Southbank is also well-connected via major arterial roads, which provide connections to many of Melbourne’s landmarks, including the Melbourne Sports and Arts Precincts, and Royal Botanic Gardens, as well as the education hubs of University of Melbourne, Swinburne University, RMIT University, Monash University and Victoria University. Tram routes along Queensbridge Street and Clarendon Street are also nearby.

So far, the developer has launched phase one of Melbourne Square – two towers of residential units and retail space, and the park. The 69-storey East Tower will consist of 566 residential units, while the 54-storey West Tower will have 386, from which residents will enjoy unhindered views of the Royal Botanic Gardens and Port Phillip Bay. Unit types are one-, two- and three-bedroom, penthouse and penthouse duplexes, with sizes ranging from 49.4 sq m to 316.8 sq m.

Both towers will share a podium amenity level that will offer facilities like a games room, sauna, yoga studio and gym, 35m pool, golf simulator, cinema and lounge. East Tower, however, will have another amenity level on the 54th floor that includes a premium lounge, meeting and games rooms, pool lounge, and facilities for private dining. Prices for the units will range from AUD401,200 to AUD5.8 million.

An exclusive preview of Melbourne Square will take place this weekend at Grand Hyatt Hotel, where you can have an up close look at the development and even take advantage of a special package that comes with a 6.5 per cent discount. Find out more here.
