Malaysia will go into a total nationwide lockdown for all social and economic sectors yet again real soon from next Tuesday (June 1) to June 14. In a somewhat dramatic reversal of the past few months’ progressive relaxation of public health rules tied to the pandemic, people from different households can no longer meet indoors while restaurants and other businesses can only open 8 am onwards, and close by 8 pm.
While much remains up in the air, Malaysia logged a record 9,020 new Covid-19 cases and 98 more deaths last week. What this means is that from Tuesday onwards, only essential economic sectors and services will be allowed to operate. This month has seen the country continue to record new highs in Covid-19 infections and deaths, despite putting in place three weeks of moderate restrictions under the movement control order (MCO).
The question is now, ‘Do I have time to stock up on grub, and what should I be buying, then?’ Well, during this lockdown period, we have to take all the necessary steps to stay healthy. But how will we remain healthy if we couldn’t pick and choose what food we should consume? Many people have been purchasing the wrong kinds of food which is why they have to keep going back to grocery stores for the things they need.
So, what you need to do now is carefully prepare a list of foods that will see you through to the end of the lockdown. Actually, there are just two criterias that you must apply before you decide which food items you need.
The foods should have a high nutritional value and have to be non-perishable so that they can last at least two to three weeks. Here, we’d like to help you prepare your shopping list with a suggestion of seven foods you need to stock up on right now.
