KOPKE CNK VERY OLD TAWNY PORT 380TH ANNIVERSARY
The world’s oldest port house has released a commemorative bottle in honour of its founder, Cristiano Nicolau Kopke. The Kopke CNK Very Old Tawny Port 380th Anniversary is every bit as impressive as its name, and is made from a blend of tawnies from the 1920s and 1930s, and a 1900 Colheita. As it has been for the last three centuries, vinification stays true to tradition, with grapes picked by hand and crushed by foot and fermented in granite tanks. The wines’ lengthy ageing in oak vats gives this edition aromas of spices, dried fruit and black pepper, and a palate bursting with jelly, cinnamon, curry and nutmeg. The balance between sweetness and acidity lingers long after the first sip. Only 380 bottles are available.
