Looks like more and more consumers adopt augmented reality technology and tech media reports that at the end of 2020, there were a total of 598 million AR active devices, and this is projected to increase to 1.73 billion by 2024!
As more consumers adopt augmented reality technology, here’s a snapshot of key AR technology to keep track of, and how these will change our world within this decade!
Luxury vehicles like Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac are always looking to differentiate themselves and have turned to augmented reality to do so. AR systems that leverage onboard cameras and high-resolution screens offer next-generation navigation by overlaying directions and points of interest on the road in front of you.
We have already seen a few vehicles hit the road with these types of systems, and we can expect to see AR become a standard feature in high-end vehicles before this feature trickles down to the rest of the automotive market. Integrated AR systems are not just a selling feature for car manufacturers but also key to getting their drivers to use their in-vehicle system over those owned by Google or Apple.
As such, expect AR to be a battleground technology for car manufacturers as they roll out proprietary solutions they have either developed or invested in that difference in user experience and feature sets.
